Awake — The Swedish Outlier

Awake is the brand that made jetboards interesting again — and is now bringing the same Scandinavian engineering discipline to the eFoil category.

Awake is one of the most design-driven companies to enter the electric watersports space, bringing a Scandinavian engineering approach that has already defined its reputation in the jetboard category. Its move into eFoils feels like a natural extension of that philosophy.

Based in Stockholm, the company has built its identity around precision, restraint, and long product cycles. Rather than rapid iteration, Awake focuses on carefully developed platforms released in limited numbers over time.

The Ravik Foil is the brand’s first eFoil, translating its established design language into flight.

Founded by Philip Werner in 2018, Awake is headquartered in Stockholm with production split between Sweden and Germany.

The company operates on a relatively slow development cycle, having released only a small number of core products over the past several years — each refined progressively rather than replaced quickly.

Brand overview
Technology

The Ravik Foil uses Awake’s modular 3.4 kWh battery system, designed for rapid swap capability in under thirty seconds.

The motor system, co-developed with a Swiss engineering partner, prioritises efficiency and acoustic refinement.

The foil setup is intentionally conservative compared to some competitors, focusing on stability and controlled cruising rather than high-aggression performance.

Top speed is governed at approximately 28 mph.

Battery endurance is a standout characteristic, with close to 90–95 minutes of mixed riding observed under real-world conditions and minimal performance drop-off over repeated cycles.

The riding experience prioritises smooth, sustained glide over dynamic carving. It is designed for longer sessions rather than aggressive manoeuvring.

Performance
Build quality

Awake’s build philosophy leans heavily toward precision manufacturing. Surfaces are tightly finished, and materials selection reflects a focus on durability and refinement.

Hardware components use marine-grade materials with a strong emphasis on longevity.

Long-term durability is widely regarded as one of the strongest aspects of the platform.

Riding experience

The Ravik Foil is calm and deliberate in its behaviour.

It rewards smooth inputs and steady pacing rather than aggressive riding styles.

This is not a board designed for high-energy carving. It is designed for long, uninterrupted sessions where stability and quiet performance matter more than speed or agility.
